This small series of photographs is about the palimpsest and detritus of time. They were taken with my phone camera in an abandoned science school now dedicated to Artist’s studios and residencies on Toronto Island. During a stay there for a photography residency I was drawn to the windows because of the stains and layers of man made and natural occurrences such as spider webs, trapped insects, scratched and fogged glass, signs and residual bits of tape from flyers and posters. I was interested in the irony that the original intention of the window has been undermined by the random events of time. They are a metaphor of the way memory becomes layered and obscured through time.
